    • Nissan's VR30DDTT twin turbo V6 delivers more than advertised 400 horsepower - Infiniti Q50 Red Sport dynos 374 rwhp

Solid numbers here from Nissan and their new VR30 3.0 liter twin turbo V6 engine (VR30DDTT). This engine comes in two flavors with 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque and a higher output 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque version.

The Infiniti Q50 Red Sport features the higher output version but it is underrated. 374 horsepower to the wheels translates to a conservative 441 horsepower at the crank with 15% losses. Pretty good, right?

That is more than BMW's B58 engine which itself is highly underrated. It takes a tune on that motor to match this engine.

Speaking of tunes, does this motor have anything left in it with a tune? Nissan is pushing the turbochargers very hard. The 300 horsepower version has the same turbochargers so it is conceivable the cheaper motor will match the 400 horsepower version with a tune.

We'll have to see what, if anything, tuners get out of it. The baseline is very promising.

PROOF that the 300hp shares the same turbos as the RS400 ??? (edited) (thanks, Sticky. )
I wonder what the transmission specs and tolerances are of both cars.
The trans will be the bottleneck.

I might be picking up one of these turbo Q50x sedans as a daily driver soon.
Although, I am very disappointed the Eau Rougue never happened, and the 2016 Q50 never got the GTR engine, or at least it's DCT transmission. I absolutely HATE the transmission in my G37x.
Remember, the 2009 GTR was selling for $68k, and I bought my G37x sedan for only $33k.
        Nissan/Infinit pricing has become laughable.
With a $50k MSRP, I don't think the RS400 can compete with the AMG C43.
But, the 300hp version of the Q50 3.0TT might make sense, especially tuned.

As much as I LOVE my Camaro SS alpha chassis, LT1, and rev matching stick, the visibility is TERRIBLE and the interior is cramped. I didn't realize both until I starting daily driving my SS.
The incompetent and moronic Camaro designer (Adam Barry) destroyed all the interior space and utility of the ATS (which shares the same chassis) in order to make it look like a old camaro to appease the "camaro faithful".
Yes, this idiot Barry, said so to my face.

My buddy picked one up to replace his G37x and honestly it wasn't anything special. It drove nice enough, was pretty nice, but just no "x factor." It just felt like a car, didn't make me want to really drive it, didn't feel special. I'm sure it could be pretty fun with a tune / tires but it's sort of a 7/10 experience.

Although my test drive of the RS400 was limited,
        I gotta agree with you.
        It was nothing special.

But, If I can pick up a 300Hp version of the AWD Sedan for around $40k, and do a tune for 400+rwhp, then that's acceptable for a cheap daily driver sedan.
If not, I'm probably going to trade my 2016 Camaro SS for a 2016 Chevrolet SS Sedan with a stick.

What I really want for a daily driver is a 2017+ AMG C63 with AWD and the DCT from the AMG GT-S.
I think THAT would be the ultimate daily driver.
I already have a blown Corvette and sportbikes for all out performance.

If TT+DCT+AWD is good enough for the AMG GT, E63 and 911 Turbo, why not the C63 as well ????

Why do you have to be such an a$$hole, especially when unprovoked?

At least I BUY the cars I talk about.
You've been blabbing about wanting a new Corvette since I started doing C63 research on here THREE years ago, and you STILL haven't bought one.
Your BMW is a slow joke, especially when you consider the amount of money you wasted on it.
Build your first 9 second car like I did ( THREE decades ago ) ,
and then get back to me, junior.

It's quite simple. The AMG GT uses a dual clutch transaxle taken from the SLS. It won't work in the C63. It's a completely different layout.

Also, the E63 doesn't use a dual clutch transmission so what are you talking about?

I'm pretty sure that would be you with that comment.

You don't own any of the cars you are talking about.

I like the Corvette but I don't plan on buying one, no. Plus my cars are more expensive and more highly modded than yours and I'm far younger than you. Do you really want to play a monetary game with me and embarrass yourself?

You literally don't own anything fast or anything of any merit on any platform. Because I tell you not to go off again on your 'oh I want everything to have DCT, all wheel drive, and a twin turbo 6 liter V8 for $30k' doesn't mean you need to lose your mind.

Get back to you? Son, I own you. Now did we learn a lesson?
